Rules & Regulations

STEERS
1. Read general rules and regulations.
2. Classes will be established for:
1. American Breeds and American Crosses (Bos Indicus influenced steers)
2. English Breeds (Angus, Red Angus, Shorthorn, Hereford and Polled Hereford)
3. All Other Breeds and Crosses
3. Steers must be owned and in possession of the exhibitor in accordance with the Texas State
Validation Guidelines.
4. County Only Validation-To be eligible for the county show, your steer must be validated on
or before October 31st, under the supervision of the County Validation Committee with an
official Mason County Livestock Show & Expo validation tag.
5. Classes will be broken by weight. The Livestock Committee will break classes as evenly
as possible.
6. Any animals that are deemed unruly will automatically be sifted. All sifted animals must be
removed from the barn immediately.
7. An award will be presented to the breeder of the highest placing Mason County bred and
raised steer.
8. Premium Sale Sheets are due immediately after the show.

HEIFERS
1. Read general rules and regulations
2. Classes will be established for:
1. American Breeds and American Crosses (Bos Indicus influenced)
2. English Breeds (Angus, Red Angus, Shorthorn, Hereford and Polled Hereford)
3. All Other Breeds and Crosses
3. Heifers must be owned and in possession of the exhibitor in accordance with the
Texas State Validation Guidelines.
4. County Only Validation-To be eligible for the county show, your heifer must be validated
on or before October 31st, under the supervision of the County Validation Committee with
an official Mason County Livestock Show & Expo validation tag.
5. All heifers must be registered with their respective breed association to be eligible to
compete. Original Registration Papers must be presented at check in.
6. Heifers may not have a birth date older than September 1, 2022.
7. Classes will be broken by age: Class 1-January 1, 2024 and younger, Class 2-December
31, 2023 to May 1, 2023, and Class 3-April 30, 2023 to September 1, 2022. The Livestock
Committee will break classes as evenly as possible. If there are less than 3 head in a division,
that division will show as one class.
8. Any animals that are deemed unruly will automatically be sifted. All sifted animals
must be removed from the barn immediately.
9. Premium sale sheets are due immediately after each show.
10. Given that generally heifers are two-year projects, no heifer may be sold in the
premium sale more than once
